Mr Chandra Yonzon –  Chief Executive Officer

Mr Chandra Yonzon is the Chief Executive Officer, founder and Director of the Royal Gurkhas Institute of Technology (RGIT) Australia.

Mr Yonzon understands that quality education plays a vital role in the socio-economic development of a country and is committed to delivering excellence and equal opportunity in education to all students.

Mr Yonzon emigrated from Nepal to Australia in 1990. He is the founder of the popular Gurkhas chain of Nepalese restaurants in Melbourne which enjoys a long-standing reputation for quality and excellent customer service. Mr Yonzon’s qualifications and achievements include:

  • Bachelor of Business Management & Administration Degree in Education
  • Restaurant and hotel entrepreneur with over 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry
  • Honorary Consul General of Nepal for Victoria

Mr Yonzon is a well-known public figure and leader within the Nepalese community in Australia.


Mr Sudhir Shakya – Compliance Coordinator

Mr Sudhir Shakya is one of the founding members of Royal Gurkhas Institute of Technology (RGIT) Australia, who played an instrumental role in the establishment and growth of the organisation. Mr Shakya is currently driving the higher education ambition of RGIT to establish itself as an accredited higher education provider in Australia. 

Mr Shakya graduated from RMIT University and brings extensive expertise in corporate governance, business management, marketing and risk management working in health insurance, financial services, hospitality and the education industry. 

His qualifications include:

  • Bachelor in Business and Management


Dr Shisir Manandhar - Research and Development Officer

Dr. Shisir Manandhar manages the activities surrounding Research Development in the VET sector. He has prior experience in coordinating new project developments, and managing research teams to prepare strategic research and development plans.

Bringing this experience to RGIT, Dr. Manandhar monitors researching projects with the oversight of quality assurance and industry engagement.

Dr. Manandhar’s qualifications include:
  • Ph.D in Engineering (Technology Management, Economics and Policy)
  • Masters in Engineering (Technology Management Economics and Policy)
  • Master in Public Administration (Public Administration)
  • Bachelor in Arts (Economics and English)


Ms Lana Harasymiv – Director of Studies (English Programmes)

Ms Lana Harasymiv brings to RGIT more than 20 years of education sector experience in Australia and overseas. Her career spans educational management, teaching and significant experience in compliance and working within the ESOS framework. Her past positions have included Principal and Director of Compliance within various schools.

As the Director of Studies (English Programmes), Ms Lana Harasymiv oversees the academic management of RGIT’s School of English. Her commitment to ESL teaching is well reflected in her range of qualifications from Australian universities:

  • Master of Arts TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)
  • Graduate Diploma in TESOL
  • Graduate Diploma of Education
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Applied Geography

Ms Harasymiv spent 12 years teaching English in Japan, giving her insight into the special pedagogic requirements of students from Asian backgrounds. In addition to this experience she has great understanding of, and empathy for, international students and the challenges they face when studying in a new country.


Mr Buddhi Rayamajhi - Quality Assurance Manager

Mr Buddhi Raya brings to RGIT exceptional industry experience with a 23-year career in Hospitality. He has a Bachelor of Social Science and a Diploma in Hospitality as well as his training and assessment qualifications. Buddhi worked with the Sheraton group for more than 15 years, which instilled in him great respect for exceptional customer service. He ensures that RGIT graduates are academically challenged to think creatively and succeed in the working world.


Ms. Zeena Chettri - Student Services Manager

Ms. Zeena Chettri is the key contact for all students throughout their RGIT journey. With an incredible knowledge base, Zeena manages all student issues from enrolments through to deferrals, leave approvals and withdrawals, reassessments and pastoral care. Zeena has a Bachelor of Education and Diploma of Management behind her professional customer service career and has also worked as a corporate trainer.
