Course Description

This nationally accredited unit is designed for food handlers involved in food preparation. This unit provides the skills and knowledge required to handle food safely during the storage, preparation, display, service and disposal of food. It requires the ability to follow predetermined procedures as outlined in a food safety program.

After successful completion of this course, participants receive a Food Handlers Certificate and a Statement of Attainment for the unit SITXFSA201. 

Participants will learn how to:

  • Follow a food safety program including food hazards, monitoring and procedures
  • Store food safely
  • Prepare food safely
  • Maintain a clean environment
  • Dispose of food safely

Prerequisites

Food Safety Level 1: Use Hygienic Practices for Food Safety.

Course Delivery

Venue: RGIT Australia, LEVEL 1, 51-53 Elizabeth St, Melbourne

Method: This is a classroom-based course that combines lecture and group discussion.

Course Duration

3 hours

Assessment

A range of assessments may be used including problem-solving exercises and written and oral questioning to assess knowledge of the content of hygiene procedures and food safety standards and codes.
