Media Release

Ref: MR-09/17-AP

07 September 2017

Royal Gurkhas Institute of Technology (RGIT) was successful in its application to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (ATT) in having Australian Skills Quality Authority’s (ASQA) decision to cancel RGIT’s registration as an RTO stayed pending hearing and final determination of Applications for Review, as stated in RGIT's media release published on 4 July 2017. RGIT’s legal, internal compliance and external consultant teams have been making strong and steady progress in rectifying compliance, and are confident in success. Nevertheless, some students and staff have expressed concerns of closure. Needless to say, RGIT is very much open for business; employing staff, enrolling students, and continuing to deliver quality courses in their entirety. RGIT's doors are open for business, and we plan to operate fully for many years to come.

This is why it is concerning that some individuals have been spreading false rumours that RGIT is closing. These rumours damage RGIT's reputation as a quality educational institute, as well as the health and well-being of our students. In the interest of protecting and supporting RGIT students, we will take legal action against any persons found to be spreading these rumours. This legal action may lead to significant penalties and costs to these individuals. Once again, RGIT is fully open and is busy as ever. Please direct any questions or concerns to us directly, and we will be more than happy to help and discuss.
