The role of the Higher Education Curriculum Leader is to take responsibility for courses through supporting the planning, development and delivery of the courses. Key Responsibilities

  • Leads the design, delivery, performance monitoring and review of course offerings, discipline research that informs teaching and scholarly activity
  • Promotes and ensures the excellence and currency of the course aligns with RGIT Australia’s Strategic, and Learning and Teaching Plans
  • Efficiently manages resources associated with course delivery and undertakes all requisite monitoring, evaluation and reporting associated with the courses
  • Manages the evaluation of course quality and improvement and ensures compliance with RGIT Australia’s policies and strategies
  • Ensures that relevant accreditations are obtained and maintained and promotes the currency and relevance of the course
  • Leads the development and implementation of effective learning and teaching strategies and practices
  • Leads scholarly activity and liaises with industry, business and professional groups and identifies opportunities for collaboration
  • Contributes to the RGIT Australia strategic direction through the operational action plan, learning and teaching planning and broader strategic matters
  • Achieving strategic outcomes including graduate attributes, graduate employment, student satisfaction, online delivery, equity participation and curriculum internationalisation, and promoting RGIT Australia’s medium-term priorities, annual objectives and ongoing approach to student-centred learning and the scholarship of learning and teaching

Skills and experience the desired candidate will have:

  • Preferably holds a Master’s level or other graduate level degree in a relevant field, or holds a minimum AQF level 8 qualification or equivalent in a relevant field
  • Possesses a teaching qualification at postgraduate level
  • Possesses (qualifications and) experience as per the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2015/2021
  • Be cognisant of the requirements of the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2015/2021, the AQF and other relevant external references
  • Be research active and have published relevant articles within the last 5-10 years in reputable publications and/or conference proceedings
  • Be prepared to be mentored within the Curriculum Leader role by a more Senior Academic (for new Curriculum Leader only)
  • Demonstrate appropriate high-level computer skills including the use of learning management systems, spreadsheets, word-processing and Google suite
  • Be research active to inform their work
  • Exhibit good communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to foster a scholarly and cooperative teaching and learning environment within both the course and associated courses
  • Demonstrate the ability and preparedness to take a lead role in team meetings to enhance the quality of the course/s and associated courses

Position purpose

The purpose of this role is to lead and manage the business training department by ensuring high quality of teaching, implementation of fully compliant training and assessment practices, use of innovative teaching methodologies to meet learning needs of a diverse student co-hort. The Coordinator has a key role in assuring the quality of RGIT Australia’s academic programs and facilitating student success at RGIT Australia.

The incumbent will be required to deliver training and assessment services up to 20 hours a week.

Position responsibilities: VET – Business and Management Coordinator and assessor

  • Management of  a team of trainers and assessors across all RGIT campuses
  • Timetabling and allocation of trainers across all classes in a timely manner.
  • Effective management of day-to-day operations  of the Business department
  • Monitor student course progress, provide support to enable students to successfully complete their chosen qualification/s.
  • Manage implementation of student course progress Policy and Procedures as required by the organisation.
  • Manage delivery of Business and Management courses in accordance with the ASQA and RGIT compliance requirements and participate in internal and external auditing processes
  • Development of resources as per the training packaging rules
  • Manage student attendance monitoring process to ensure high level of student participation in learning
  • Lead the culture of continuous improvement in teaching and learning within the department
  • Monitor Business and Management department staff activities across both Hobart & Melbourne campus and provide them with ongoing support and assistance to ensure efficient and effective performance.
  • Provide educational leadership within the department by facilitating staff professional development, validation, course review and industry engagement.
  • Conduct classes as  required.
  • Manage resources in line with the organisational Policies and Procedures

Selection Criteria

  • Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) or a post-tertiary Degree in the fields of Management, Teaching /Adult Learning or Business
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116)
  • Demonstrated experience in educational leadership in a capacity of a Manager or a Coordinator within an RTO
  • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in AQF 6 and above qualifications in Management, Business or any other relevant to this role fields of study
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ASQA SRTO2015
  • Proven track record in on-going professional development and ability to maintain industry currency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven track record in working effectively as part of a training team
  • Advanced level capability of utilising the computer and computing skills.
  • LMS (Moodle) experience is preferable
  • RTO Manager (Student Management System) experience is preferable

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Management of RTO scope of registration resources ensuring currency with accredited training reporting & auditing requirements.
  • Lead Academic team of our Hobart campus, guide train and assist our Trainers/Assessors and Coordinators.
  • Work together with Dean of Academic Affairs and Quality and make sure RGIT’s Academic department of Hobart campus is fully compliant.

SELECTION CRITERIA 

  1. Certificate IV or Diploma in Training & Assessment TAE combined with a tertiary qualification in Adult Education, Management or Business.
  2. Qualification with Community Services or Childcare (ECEC) or Hospitality preferred.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Australian Skills Quality Authority, training packaging requirements, AVETMISS and experience with International students.
  4. Knowledge of State & Federal Training funding
  5. Demonstrated successful experience in managing and leading a team of professionals, in an RTO environment, in pursuit of excellence in service quality and delivery.
  6. Experience in business development and grant, tender or proposal writing
  7. Demonstrated high level interpersonal, negotiation and communications with the ability to interact with all levels of staff, employee representatives, union officials, legal practitioners and other stakeholders.
  8. Ability to maintain composure, balance workload and conflicting priorities and effectively handle difficult situations.
  9. The ability to develop effective relationships with senior management and staff and maintain trust and confidence, and act in a fair and impartial manner to achieve outcomes.
  10. Demonstrated organisational, project management and administrative skills including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Conducting focus groups with students, professors, employees, and alumni to learn about effective and inefficient methods
  • Designing algorithms to assess the effectiveness of learning support services on students’ accomplishment of desired educational goals.
  • Conducts assessment methodology, practice, and technology training and professional development for academics and staff, as well as facilitating the systematic use of documents, reports, and assessment results for planning and improvement.
  • Collaborate with academic departments to ensure that students involved in work placements, intern and internship, cooperatives, on-line programs, and other activities have access to adequate resources.
  • Responsibilities include handling the administration of a set of core programs and processes that support or enable faculty research, including a new predoctoral program that facilitates the hiring and onboarding of technical and research support associates.
  • Responds swiftly to requests for information about academic programs; contributes in the development and updating of course schedules; generates enrollment reports; and responds student concerns about enrollment and registration.
  • Keep up with advances in learning and networking technologies and come up with fresh plans to increase students’ learning needs.
  • To guarantee excellent delivery of available courses, support cooperation across program goals, as well as with the integral approach and current e-learning platforms.
  • Provide guidance on the specific steps needed to implement the skill development necessity, as well as assistance in developing rubrics to evaluate the skill development option’s effectiveness and align it with program educational objectives.
  • Skills development proposals for students who consistently demonstrate a lack of skills and abilities in order to continue in the program.

Skills and experience the desired candidate will have:

 A minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience; expertise developing policies and procedures to promote continuous improvement; and specialized understanding of student success practices.

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116)
  • Demonstrated experience in educational leadership in a capacity of a Coordinator within an RTO
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, with an emphasis on interpersonal, coordination, negotiation, organizational and problem-solving skills and effective and efficient verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of curriculum-related academic and administrative policies and procedures
  • Well-developed communication skills, as well as the capacity to create and maintain effective working organizational culture, as well as deliver relevant and timely advice

 Position Responsibilities

  • Introducing each student to their workplace and their workplace supervisor in person before the students commence their work placements.
  • Providing an explanation to the student as to how the work-based training is the most appropriate mode of delivery and/or assessment for the achievement of the competencies.
  • Monitor student logs each week to ensure the required mix and level of experience is being undertaken and that the log is being completed correctly.
  • Participate in curriculum development relating to Work Based Training (WBT) as required, the evaluation of existing courses and development of new ones as requested.
  • Assess students’ competence in accordance with Assessment Principles and Rules of Evidence together with the Training Package Guidelines and RGIT’s objectives.
  • Ensure the students are exposed to a variety of training / assessing strategies in accordance with their needs as learners and the requirements of the program.
  • Ensure a positive and safe learning environment in accordance with RGIT’s policies and Governmental regulations for students.
  • Implement and maintain the Workplace health and safety in the Commercial Kitchen(s) and classrooms in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Use the results of the participant and employer evaluation for continuous improvement.
